Fruit Pizza

Dad and I were invited to watch conference at our home teacher's home. He is now single and he also invited over our other home teacher and his wife. He is in his fifty's and the other couple are in their middle seventies.
He asked us to bring dessert so I decided on a fruit pizza. It went over quite well. It was delicious. There is only about 1/4 left for tomorrow after conference when we are all over there again.

It was a crazy day watching three grown men act like teenagers.

easter eggs

As you can see we colored eggs at the Bainters again this year. I boiled up a dozen for us and Trudy had boiled up 6 dozen for them. We all used different methods and came up with some neat looking eggs.

The pink egg was the first egg I did. I used leaves and kept them on the egg by using a nylon. Some leaves worked better than others

Grandpa decided to sponge his eggs this year. They turned out to be unique.

This is a egg that Trudy taped with scotch tape and then kept taping and dipping.

This is the last egg that Stevie did. She had already colored it and then her mother put the leaf on it and dipped into another color. It turned out pretty good.

Brain food

The other day I decided to make bread. With this recipe you let the yeast, water and sugar rest for 45 minutes. In 30 minutes it was raising over the small bowl it was in so I put it in a bigger bowl. Grandpa thought it looked like a brain so I took a picture of it. You'll have to decide.

Then Wednesday Stevie, and Ceci, and I made spudnuts. I think they turned out pretty good. It has been years since I have made donuts.

A Ticket !!!!!!!

A couple of weeks ago Grandpa and I went to LaPlata to do some shopping. We went to a material shop, and then to Safeways and Walmart. Since it was lunch time we decided to top off a wonderful day at Wendys, which we did.
We left Wendy's making a right onto 301 and then a left so we could make a left onto 6 and low and behold I looked into my rear view mirror and there were flashing lights. The light turned red so we had to wait and the flashing lights were turned off and I told grandpa I guess it wasn't me the cops wanted. Well the light turned green we made our left and guess what went on you guessed it the flashing red lights.
I only had one brake light and that isn't all!!!!!!! They wanted to see my drivers license and the car registration. The Drivers license was simple to come up with. I asked grandpa to get the registration out of the glove box. He did and I handed it to the officer, he said I would like your Maryland registration. The one I gave him was our Utah registration from living in Midvale two years ago. The officer told me what Maryland's looked like and I told him I must have thrown it away when we licensed the car here in Maryland.
He was probably thinking dumb old lady. I didn't get a ticket he told me how to go online and get another registration, grandpa bought some lights and installed them and this last Monday we went to the police station in Leonardtown and an officer signed off the work order now I just need to send the work order to the state.

Teeth

I finally went to the dentist awhile back and they wanted an arm and a leg for fixing a tooth, you know root canal and crown and etc. Well I told them I didn't have that kind of money so they sent me to a specialist.

I could get the tooth pulled for a lot less money. Sooooo Feb 27th Dad took me to Dr Z and he put me out, because I'm such a chicken, and pulled the tooth. He did such a good job that when Dad drove us home I wasn't even scared. I can't even remember the drive home.

Yesterday I went back to Dr Z and the hole is doing great. So I actually started chewing on that side, which is good because I can't chew on the left side because of not enough lower teeth. I was tired of worrying my food. Now I can chew and swallow and it won't take an hour to eat one scrambled egg. I didn't lose any weight darn it.

Tagged

Well Ceci wanted to know why I wasn't doing the tag thing so here goes.

1. 10 years ago: I was still living at the Tenny place in Abraham, Utah. Zane Bainter was born in February, Mom's open heart surgery was that June. I was working at the Family History Center as a staff member 1 day a week, working at the Delta Livestock Auction 1 afternoon a week, and started working for a caterer in Delta two days a week. At this same time I went to Murray and helped with Mom, changing her dressing on her leg at at the first of the week and back in Delta the last part of the week. Our beloved Smokey died also in 1998.

2. Things on my to do list today: I work on the church indexing and I want to arbitrate 100 names, do some embroidery on some quilt blocks, read, give Noah and Zane piano lessons, remember to get Stevie and Noah off the bus at 4:05.

3. Snacks I enjoy: I love to eat buttery popcorn, and a good chocolate chip cookie.

4. What would I'd do if I were suddenly a billionarie: Pay all my debts. Then I would like to get a place closer to the temple so I could do more temple work with Sid, go on church missions until I was to old to go, and go on trips to Germany and other places where my ancestors are from.

5. Three of my bad habits: hmmmmmm just kidding. I swear to much, I'm to selfish with my time, I am also not very thoughtful of others, I make snap judgements of others and have to change my option later.

6. Five places I have lived: Portland, Oregon; La Grande, Oregon; Salt Lake City, Utah; Murray, Utah; Delta, Utah and now Maryland.

7. Five jobs I have had: Babysitter, nurses aide in Delta, School bus driver, Caterer, aide for special education in Delta Elementary.

8. Five things people might not know about me: hmmmm I think I'm old enough everyone knows me. I'm basically shy person, I don't like going places where I don't know people. I have always wanted to sing in the Tabernacle Choir, big pipe dream. I really hate to drive, everyone knows I dislike being a passenger, but getting out of the house and driving makes me very nervous. I could just stay home, never grocery or clothes shopping and be happy.

Okay everyone happy!!!!!!

What have I been doing?

I have been taking it a little easy because my blood pressure has been to high. The doctor started me on a new medication that didn't do a thing but make it higher. But two weeks ago she added a new med, these days it is still one pill. I went to the pharmacy yesterday to fill the prescription and they had to order it special so I went back to the Dr's office yesterday and got two more weeks of free samples. The pharmacy called me today to say they had the prescription and it would be $123.33. Just took my blood pressure. The pill is working 122/78. I told them I would be in to get the prescription in two weeks when my SS check would be here. Now I know why I just took on two new piano students.
Now I'm going in to soak in a soda (baking soda, not pop) bath.

A woman in our ward had a baby so I decided to make her a baby blanket with my left over yarn. It looked like I had enough so I started and as usual I guessed wrong.

Here is Stevie's new doll blanket and she says her care bear blanket. I will post the care bear when I finish it. She asked her Mom if she thought Grandma would crochet her a care bear. Now everyday after school Stevie runs in here to see if I have it finished. It is almooooost done.

Last Wednesday Dad and I went down to Church, me to watch the Pinewood Derby and Dad to speak to the 11 year old scouts about being good citizens.

I watched Noah and Zane race their cars. They did really well. I will let Trudy blog the derby since she takes better pictures.

Dad took an old bull whip and had the boys get face down on the floor and lightly whipped their butts to show dictatorship.

Fire Fire Where's the Fire

This is Friday morning at 2:00 am. Trudy called us on the phone and told us their smoke alarm was going off and could she bring over the kids. Steve and her could not find anything but there was smoke in the house so they called 911. After Grandpa and I got dressed dad went over and he could see smoke and could also smell smoke so we all went outside.
We all had time to grab coats, put shoes on, decide what to take out of the house. Trudy and I both decided on our purses and then I went back in and got my camera after the first firetruck arrived.

Then another firetruck arrived. There was an ambulance in the neighbor's yard across the street.
What you see is not smoke, it is car exhaust from Trudy and Steve's truck, the kids were in it keeping warm.
There was no fire. The strongest smell was in Ceci's room and Trudy had unplugged everything in there.
The firemen think the furnace backfired, I've never heard of an electric furnace doing that but Steve cleaned the filter and they are supposely downstairs in the familyroom trying to sleep and Grandpa and I are on our computers trying to get sleepy.
