Temple Day with Baxter getting his endowments

Dad and I got up this morning at 5:30 A.M. to go to the temple with Steve, Trudy and Baxter.  Steve drove our car and sun was hitting the temple just right when we got there.
I think this is the best picture of the Washington D.C. Temple that I have taken.

Trudy, Steve, and Baxter going.  While we were in the temple we saw our good friend Lorene Smith.  I'm so glad we were able to go today.  It was a spiritual feast.  Dad and I went and did the last of the sealings I
had before the session started at 10:00 A.M., then met up with the Bainters just before the session.

 Trudy, Baxter and Steve after.

None of us had eaten breakfast so we were all pretty hungry.  An older couple missionary told us about the Parkway Deli.  We gave it a try.  This is my Monterey Chicken Panini.  Yummy

Trudy had Steak and Cheese Wrap

Dad had Corned Beef, Pastrami and chopped Liver Club

 Baxter's

Steve's
They also had a pickle bar that was fun.
We headed for the Boy Scout Store and then the GPS took us on a wild trip home.  Got to see some neat things, drove around the DuPont Circle went through tunnels but finally brought us home in one piece. Oh modern technology.
Wonderful day, wonderful company, wonderful family.

Our Fiftieth Anniversary

I put Stevie on the bus at 8:20 and then Sid and I went to Waldorf to see The Hobbit at 10:00 am.
The theatre has been remodeled and is pretty nice.

You can see it is easy to relax while waiting for the movie to begin.

 We both enjoyed the Hobbit

Sid wanted to eat crab so we went to the Red Lobster

What was disturbing to us; was after we were through eating a girl came to put the silverware on a uncleaned table across from us.  She threw the napkin with the silverware in it down on the seats, as if they are clean.  Then she came back and cleaned the table.  Would you want to eat with that silverware?

Two of our grandsons are on swim teams from different High Schools.  It just happened that tonight Thomas Stone and Chopticon were swimming against each other.  We got to Lackey High School about 3:30 and each of us took a nap, we had worked so hard so far today.  Tina drove up in her new car and took Sid and I for a drive and we were back in time for the match.

It was a fun day ending up with family.  Trudy and Stevie sat with us and then Lincoln came for a little while.  Sid and I have had a blessed 50 years together.  We have raised four good children and we love their spouses and children. You couldn't ask for anything more.  I am thankful for family and the gospel.

Veteran's Day at Leonardtown

Zane was marching in the Vet's parade today so we decided to see what it was all about.  This is the first Veteran's parade that we have been to.  We left home at 8:30 am so we could get a good parking spot and good place to watch from.

The lady next to Sid asked if she could take our picture.  Of course we said yes.  Now you can see I was there.

My honey!!!!

A friend passing out literature on Southern Maryland Veterans Information & Resources.

Sorry about getting so many backsides.  We were on the corner of their turn and I couldn't get good pictures. This was the starting of the parade.

I couldn't believe how many bikers were in the parade.
Then there were lots of old cars.

Lots of cub scouts.

 Brownies

The Highland Fling.

Finally Zane and the Chopticon ROTC

 Chopticon High School Band.

 This made me laugh.

Finally the horses.  Nothing like in Utah (Delta).

Then to end the parade all the firetrucks and ambulances.
The parade started at 10:00 am and ended a little after 11:00 am.  Home we went, put in a turkey breast, changed into church clothes and were at church by 12:45.
It was a great day.  I want to thank all the people that serve in the arm forces all over the world. You do a great service.  My dad served in WWII and when the parade rounded the corner and I saw the American flag my eyes became teary.  I love America and all it stands for.
