Alternate Energy Event

This couple came up from Florida to see the Energy Event. They were a very nice couple. They had seen Dad's cell on U-tube. Several of the fellows from Dad's old forum came also. As bad as the place was and hard to find there were a lot of people that showed up on Saturday. Not so many today. Just as we were packing up today a couple named Young came in from New Jersey. Mike and Veronica Young, she told us they came just to see Dad's cell and to meet him. She says dad is in their home everyday on U-tube. They had to have pictures of Dad, me, Mike and Veronica all standing together.
This was Dad yesterday showing off his unit. Sometimes there were 3 to 4 people deep looking at the Cell. Dad had made some business cards to hand out and he had CDs that he sold for $20.00 apiece. He also sold some gaskets to a couple a guys from New Hampshire that are going to put 3 cells together. They want to put them together for us. We will see.

This was when we first got there this morning before we put up a tarp.

Yesterday it had been so hot that Steve and Baxter brought their tarp so Dad could have shade.

I took the picture of our chairs just as a burst of wind knocked them down with the umbrella. Our chairs were hooked together

These old logs had been put in a semi circle and those displaying could back their vehicles up to show their product. Yesterday there were a lot more cars backed up around the circle and in front of some of the old buildings. Today being Sunday it was slow.
Working sawmill buildings that had been cleared for this event
There were no trees, only two porta potties. Lots of dirt and hot sun.

This is a old building I looked at for the two days of the Event. Yesterday there were more cars there and if you left you might not have your space when you came back.

Glad's this year

I thought I would let everyone see my glads this year. I also have these little purple pansies.

The side picture just shows the glads and the weeds. I didn't dig up the glads last fall like you are supposed to so I was surprised to see all these come up and they came up in different places than they were last year. They are so tall and heavy they were falling over so dad and I bought some bamboo shoots and staked the glads to them.

Some of these colors are so pretty I think. I don't remember them being this tall or large the last two years they bloomed.

The Grandchildren

Tending the Grandchildren is different these days. Trudy was at night school, Steve was in Bowie, Baxter off to young men's, and Cecilia was at young women's. I didn't realize the boys could unhook the wii at their house and bring it over and with no help from Grandpa hook it up to our small TV. They did and were happy as a lark.

Nutella

This is for Emma. Nutella is "The original creamy, chocolaty hazelnut spread." It is soooooooooooo good. You find it next to the peanut butter.

Bananas

After our meal today dad and I had our favorite way of eating bananas. Grandpa's way is sliced with cream and then he added nutella mixed in with it. I asked him if it was good and he said
OOOOOOH YEEEEEAAAAAH.

Then there is my favorite way. Banana with a dab of peanut butter on each bite, heaven I'm in heaven. Then I tried nutella but it isn't as good as peanut butter.

Pain

A few weeks ago I was in so much pain from head to toe. It last about a week. I can say I was not very nice and probably failed the test of patience.

I have been reading the book "Faith Precedes the Miracle" by Spencer W. Kimball. In the chapter Tragedy or Destiny?, he says No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. I wish I had read that before I got sick.

He also quotes a verse, the author is unknown

Pain stayed so long I said to him today,
"I will not have you with me any more."
I stamped my foot and said, "Be on your way,"
And paused there, startled at the look he wore.
"I, who have been your friend," he said to me,
"I, who have been your teacher--all you know
Of understanding love, of sympathy,
and patience, I have taught you. Shall I go?"
He spoke the truth, this strange unwelcome guest;
I watched him leave, and knew that he was wise.
He left a heart grown tender in my breast,
He left a far, clear vision in my eyes.
I dried my tears, and lifted up a song--
Even for one who'd tortured me so long.

I wish I could say that I had learned that but I don't think I did. All I know is it is great to feel good again and be able to move. Dad had the same thing and we both get tired quite fast.
We are both healing and love life.

Humming Birds

You can tell it is humming bird time here in Maryland . I love having humming bird feeders. When we were at Southern States (like IFA) they had two for one. So we bought two.

I think this humming bird is watching me.

These two birds dived at each other right after I took the picture. They will fight at one feeder and then dash over and fight at the other feeder.

So far we have had red, blue, green and plain neck humming birds. They are so neat to watch. Dad and I can watch them at breakfast and lunch.

Sometimes while we are standing on the deck watching the kids swim the birds will come in and feed.

Crash-hot potatoes

I thought I would be brave and try these Crash-hot potatoes from the pioneer woman. Dad says they are the best potatoes he has eaten.
I didn't have the right potato masher so dad mashed them with a quart jar. I forgot to get some fresh herbs at the store but I had bought some green onions and I used them.
Both of us voted to have them again and I am going to try and find a potato masher at the second hand store.

moth

When Grandpa and I went to sleep last night it was still lightning and thundering.

I got up this morning to see the damage and on our screen was this moth. Not only was this on our screen but several different sizes either on the screen or on the house.
