Hmmmm Is That Ice?????

Hmm after commenting on Tina's blog that it wasn't cold enough to freeze in Southern Maryland I went out to throw out some ice on the deck so we wouldn't fall and noticed that my bird feeder ( I know I should have taken it down this fall) had ice on it.

Then I notice that my patio blueberries also had ice. I guess that means we were as cold as at Tina's house.
There isn't much ice. I have seen more but hopefully this will melt fast.

Christmas Day

Christmas day was so much fun. About 12 noon we went over to the Bainters to see what they had gotten and then the Stevens family showed up. We played games and visited. We ate delicious ham chowder that Trudy had made. Sid Jr called and talked to Dad and me, and I called my mother and talked to her. All in all it was a great day.
I posted 2 today.

Christmas Eve At the Stevens

After riding in the car for about 20 minutes we arrived the the Stevens home. We finished getting ready for the dinner and then the kids lined up to fill their plates with wonderful food.

Both my daughters are great cooks. (so are my daughter-in-laws)

Tina taking pictures.

Grandpa just enjoying life.

Lincoln

Why is it that the kids get to go first?????

Great food.

Then the unwrapping of the pj's. Youngest to oldest.

The four oldest in the family didn't get new pj's.
I love this picture of Zane he usually is goofing off.

The grand kids in their new pj's.

The two old crows

Bainters

Grandpa was hiding from me.

Then we piled back into the truck and sang all the way home and I wondered if the kids were going to be able to sleep so Santa could come.

On Our Way to Linc's and Tina's

We were just starting out to the Steven's house for Christmas Eve dinner and the opening of the PJ's. You can tell everyone is excited and happy.

The Driver,  I was so glad I didn't have to drive.  Steve is a great driver.  I didn't gasp once.

We had so much fun, singing and just goofing off.  On the way home the kids were so hyper. It was one of the best Christmas Eve's ever.   Thank you, Thank you.

Two days before Christmas

This year I'm not baking, cooking, or making candy. Lazy? I am finishing up a quilt that should have been done weeks ago. Sid and I did watch Julie and Julia last night. I don't think I have laughed that hard in a long long time. Meryl Streep really plays Julia Childs, I could almost see her (Julia Childs).

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful

It is still snowing. I almost didn't go out to take this pictures. Probably could have taken better ones but the wind was gusting and the snow was blowing. The gust on our gauge said 8 miles an hour as I left our warm house.
They are are saying to expect blizzards today and more snow coming down all day. I am thankful for a warm home. Hopefully the electricity stays on.
While I was out there Baxter came out with Bubbles. He is giving her a treat for doing her job. She is a cute puppy.

Our Anniversary

Today was Sid's and my Anniversay, we have been married 47 years. To celebrate we went to the movie Invictus. We both loved it. It was so emtional but hard for our old ears to hear everything that was said. We will have to either buy it or rent it so we can caption the movie to see what we missed.

After the movie we went to Red Lobster to celebrate. I enjoyed everything I ordered and enjoyed tasting what Sid ordered and for desseret we shared a piece of cheesecake. Yummy.

It was a great day!!!!!!

Sunbonnet Sue

I had a delightful day today. Tina and McKay came out for the day to help me quilt this Sunbonnet Sue quilt.

This is one 0f 12 blocks that I embroidered.

Tina just getting started

McKay trying his hand at quilting. He found out it is harder than it looks.

Baby quilt that I finished yesterday. I still need to weave in the ends of the different colors.

Roses in December

I can't believe that our rose tree is still blooming. It is still in different stages. There are the full blooms and then there are different stages of the buds.

If you enlarge this picture and then click on the buds in the back of this bloom you can see the tiny buds coming.

There are smaller ones than this one. Hopefully the frost last night didn't hurt them.
I have daises trying to bloom also and my snapdragons are in bloom. I guess you have to take a little rain and fog. Lincoln picked the last of the green peppers when they were here for Thanksgiving and I will probably pick our first broccoli this week. Love it.

Thanksgiving day 2009

We had a great thanksgiving this year. The only thing missing was the family that are in Utah and Oregon. Of course it started off by getting the turkey in the oven and finishing the pies and broccoli salad ( here Leo is saying glad I wasn't there) and the sweet potatoes. I had made the pie crusts the day before and the rolls. Tina brought mashed potatoes, two drinks, vegetable tray, pretzel salad and two pies. Trudy cooked the smoked pork, jello salad, two pies, stuffing, and brought two drinks. Big meal for only 12 people.

Here we are right after Lincoln said the blessing on the food and getting ready to fill our plates.

I have some great cooks in the family. Everything looked so delicious and was.

Finally everyone was sitting at the table and eating and enjoying each others company.
Sid and Ceci with Grandpa enjoying my coconut cream pie and my raspberry pie.
I think the pumpkin pie was the first to go. Tina made chocolate cream and Oreo pies. Trudy made apple and pumpkin. I made the coconut cream and the funny looking raspberry.
Then after the meal, Tina said she had brought sprinkles so we could do our toenails. Oh what fun. I have a trail of sprinkles from the living room to the bathroom where we sprayed off the excess sprinkles.
Ceci's toes
Tina taking a picture of Trudy doing her toes.

Here are the finished toes. Trudy, Stevie, Tina, Me and Ceci. That was fun. To bad I don't wear sandals to church so I can show off my good looking toenails.
Steve and Tina getting the icing ready for the gingerbread houses.
Mac just getting started.

Noah's I think there is a hole in the roof for Santa to go thru.

Grandpa's geodesic, it is not a soccer ball
Mine, yep I actually did one this year.

After we finished the gram cracker houses we played games until about 10 pm and then we finished off by gathering around the piano singing Christmas carols. Reminded me of when we had the whole family together and Tina would play for us as we sang.
Yes I'm thankful for a wonderful family, wonderful grandchildren, wonderful sons and daughters in laws, our country and the gospel and the peace it brings into our lives. I thankful for a very loving Heavenly Father and his Son our Savior.
I don't want to forget my parents and my four sisters and my ancestry. I am very blessed.
Love you all.
