Jupiter and the Moon

Yesterday dad and I went and had our telescope welded so we could look at Jupiter next to the moon.  We haven't used the telescope since we have been here.  The other night you could see Jupiter just underneath the moon but tonight it was to the right.  It just showed up as a white spot in the telescope but it was still interesting.

I tried another night picture without the flash but to much movement.

I should have had my camera earlier.  Steve, Trudy, Ceci, Zane, Noah, Stevie and me all took turns looking at Jupiter and the moon.  The moon was the most interesting.  If you looked at the perimeter of the moon you could see the jagged peaks around the craters.

Just a crazy picture of a orange moon.  We need a better telescope to see the planets better, but it was fun.

That telescope is plenty good. You just need to learn how to use it. You won't be able to see the planets very good when they are close to the moon, because it is a light gathering telescope. You also need to use the barlow lens to get better magnification. You should also put it on the ground instead of the deck for less vibration and a clearer image. Happy viewing.

The dogs are in the back yard, so we had to do it on the deck. We found out about the vibration but it is hard to keep everyone from walking around.

That is pretty neat. What a big telescope!
