The Good Ole Hollyhock doll

When Grandpa was small he used to make hollyhock dolls.  As our girls grew up in Abraham, their Grandmother Young had lots of hollyhocks and they made dolls also.  Today I went out and picked our first hollyhock and grandpa and I made a doll.

The first pictures you see here are the ones we found on the Internet.

Now you get to see the one Grandpa and I made

I think it looks pretty nice!!!! And so does Stevie.

I was thinking about grandma and her hollyhocks and those dolls just the other day! I used to LOVE to play with them!!

Great dolls and great pictures!

This was so sweet. Now I have a better idea of what my Mom was talking about when she said she made and played with Hollyhock dolls when she was a little girl in Louisville, Kentucky.

I grew up in Hinckley and my Mom missed the way things grew for her family in Kentucky (Hinckley soil is awful, perhaps Abraham's wasn't quite so bad?) So she was thrilled when Hollyhocks grew tall and beautiful. I can't see them now without thinking of her as a child. Thanks for the photos!
