Potatoes

I went out today after the rain storm to see how the potatoes looked like after a good rain.

This is how the potato containers looked Apr 6th.

This is how they look today April 27th.

These are the white potatoes.

These are the yellow.  They are still coming through the soil.

Hopefully we will be eating potatoes next month.  (Baby potatoes).

Welllll. This is my first atempt at potatoes in a container. But usually when potatoes start to bloom there are baby potatoes there to dig. I like to get a few then and make a white sauce and add peas (that are usually ready at the same time). That is soooo good. But here I will probably go to the store and buy frozen peas.

Then in the fall the ground usually starts to bulge and you know they are ready. In Utah that was the end of Sept, firt of October.

We will just play this by ear this year.

Neat! I didn't know that you could grow potatoes in a container. The potatoe dish sounds yummy too.
