A Different Kind of Month

The month of August started out pretty normal.  We were vacationing with family in South Carolina, came home and started living everyday like we always do.  Then on Aug 11th, Stake Temple day, everything changed. I have decided you can't take life for granted.  Sometimes when everything is going great you are thrown a curve.
That was the day we found out that our Granddaughter's husband, Riley, had been killed.

We had a niece that gave us tickets so we could fly to Oregon for the funeral.  We flew out of Maryland Tuesday, Aug 16th.  The next day we went with our son Sid Jr's family to the Hilsboro airport to see Riley's body arrive.  It was something else.  I don't have words to describe the support that the Military, Firemen, Policemen and the townspeople in the four towns we went through, from Hilsboro to Forest Grove, and their respect for a fallen soldier.

A long hard day but full of surprises and gratitude for our servicemen and others when I saw the support the people along the way gave our servicemen and how reverent even the patriot guard riders were.
